Palace on Wheels is India’s luxury heritage train offering a royal journey through Rajasthan and nearby cities like Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, and Agra. Featuring restored vintage coaches, elegant interiors, modern amenities, and fine dining, it lets travelers explore magnificent forts and cultural sites while enjoying the grandeur of maharaja-era travel. Perfect for those seeking history, luxury, and scenic beauty in one unique adventure.
Terms & Conditions:
- Add 5% GST Extra.
- Add 10% Holiday Surcharge Extra for the trips falling during Christmas and New Year.
- Children below the age of 5 years can travel with a 10% charge of the total cost of the journey. For children in the age group of 5 to 12 years, half of the journey cost will be charged. At the time of issuance of tickets, age proof certificate of the child / children needs to be furnished.
- Foreign Passport holders with OCI cards, pay as per US$ tariff.
- Maximum Two persons above Five years can adjust in One Cabin & in new train, there is NO PROVISION for triple occupancy.
- Guests are allotted exclusive Air-Conditioned Sleeper Cabins (like hotel room) each having attached private bathrooms.
- Size of Deluxe cabins is 140 square feet with twin bed.
- Size of Super Deluxe cabins is 190 square feet with single large bed.
- Sightseeing for Guests Booked in Super Deluxe Cabins is arranged in private AC Car with Guide (except in Ranthambhore Jungle by sharing Center).
- Sharing Canters are used for Jungle Safari in Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve (including for Super Deluxe Cabin guests).
- Cycle Rickshaws are used for visits to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
- Total journey is of 7 Nights from New Delhi/ New Delhi; but Guests have OPTION to book MINIMUM Five Nights New Delhi/Jodhpur part journey & pay accordingly.
Palace on Wheels Booking Procedure:
- The Palace on Wheels is operated & managed by RTDC (Tourism Dept. of Rajasthan Govt.).
- Advice depart dates with number of persons & cabins required.
- We require Name/sex/nationality of all the passengers to process booking.
- In case of children< 12 years we also require a date of birth.
- Booking will be confirmed on receipt of MINIMUM 25% of ticket value as advance deposit.
- Balance payment must reach us before 61 days before tour depart.
- Booking request made< 61 days prior to tour depart, will be confirmed on receipt of One-Time full payment.
- For foreign passport holders, we require Passport copies of all passengers to issue travel documents.
- Saloon/cabin will be allocated on the date of departure with boarding cards.
- Advice arrival/depart details in New Delhi & interest to book Hotels through us.

Itineraries
Day 1
WEDNESDAY: Departure from Delhi
The grand Palace on Wheels tour of Rajasthan begins at Safdarjung Railway Station, New Delhi. Please report by 16:00 hrs for a traditional welcome and check-in. Enjoy a photo session with staff in traditional attire before being escorted to your saloon cabins, where your Personal Attendant will brief you on the cabin facilities. At your leisure, visit the Bar Lounge for a complimentary welcome drink. Feel free to explore the luxury train and its amenities. Dinner will be served onboard at either of the two restaurants. The train departs at 18:30 hrs, heading to its first destination, Jaipur.
Day 2
THURSDAY: JAIPUR-Pink City Tour
At Jaipur Railway Station, experience a royal welcome by elephants before visiting St. Albert Museum, Pink City Palace, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar (Sun Observatory). Stop for photos at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds. In the afternoon, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Amber Fort and enjoy a ride up its steep ramparts on festively decorated elephants. Savor lunch at the 1135 AD Boutique Restaurant within the fort premises. Discover the stunning 16th-century fort palace with its grand courtyards and unique fusion of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Later, enjoy free time for shopping and visit the vibrant local market around 5 PM. Return to the Palace on Wheels train by 6:00 PM as it departs for the next destination. Dinner is served onboard.
Day 3
FRIDAY Morning: RANTHAMBORE- Tiger Reserve
Early morning at 6:30 AM, depart from Sawai Madhopur Railway Station for a jungle safari in 15-seater canters at Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. The park is home to tigers, panthers, sloth bears, pythons, marsh crocodiles, hundreds of deer, and numerous bird species. Return to Sawai Madhopur Railway Station to board the train departing at 10:00 AM. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard.
Day 3
FRIDAY Afternoon: CHITTORGARH- Hill Fort
At 16:00 hrs, the train arrives at Chittorgarh Railway Station. Proceed for an excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Hill Fort of Chittorgarh, which spans a vast plateau and dates back to the 11th century. Considered the largest fort in India, it offers a rich historical experience. In the evening, enjoy the spectacular Sound & Light show within the fort complex before returning to the train for dinner. The train departs after midnight.
Day 4
SATURDAY: UDAIPUR- City of Lakes
The train arrives at 08:00 hrs. After breakfast onboard, visit the 17th-century City Palace complex featuring eleven palaces, balconies, towers, and cupolas. Explore the Crystal Gallery, home to the personal collection of His Highness of Udaipur. Enjoy a scenic boat ride around the iconic Lake Palace Hotel, located on a small island in Lake Pichola. Proceed to lunch at Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel. Spend some free time shopping and visit the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari. Return to the train by 15:00 hrs for departure. Dinner will be served onboard.
Day 5
SUNDAY: JAISALMER: Oasis in desert
After breakfast onboard, proceed at 09:30 hrs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jaisalmer Fort, a golden-hued living fort towering 100 meters above the town, straight out of an Arabian Nights tale. Explore the 15th-century fort complex with its massive gates leading to a large courtyard. Visit Patwon ki Haveli, a five-story mansion renowned for its intricate carvings, and nearby 15th-century Jain Temples known for their beautiful carvings and ancient manuscript library. Enjoy lunch at a 5-star hotel, then return to the train for a brief rest. At 16:30 hrs, head out to the Sam Sand Dunes in the Thar Desert for a camel ride and stunning sunset photography. Later, enjoy a cultural program and dinner at a 5-star hotel. Return to the train by 22:00 hrs and depart for Jodhpur.
Day 6
MONDAY: JODHPUR: Heart of Marwar
The train arrives at 08:00 AM. After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of the 16th-century Mehrangarh Fort, perched atop a rocky hill 125 meters above Jodhpur. The fort’s entrance features angled gateways designed to thwart enemy attacks. Inside, explore the stunning palatial apartments overlooking spacious courtyards, and visit the museum showcasing royal garments and medieval weapons. Nearby, visit Jaswant Thada, a late 19th-century cluster of white marble royal cenotaphs. Later, tour the Umaid Bhawan Palace museum, home to personal artifacts of the Maharaja of Jodhpur. Enjoy lunch at Hanwant Mahal Boutique Restaurant. Return to the train and depart at 3:30 PM.
Day 7
TUESDAY Morning: BHARATPUR: Bird Sanctuary
At 06:30 hrs, proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride to spot over 375 species of local and migratory birds from places like Sri Lanka, Europe, Siberia, China, and Tibet. Return to the train for breakfast and depart by 08:45 hrs.
Day 7
TUESDAY Noon: AGRA - City of Taj Mahal
The train arrives at the railway station on the outskirts of Agra at 10:30 hrs. You will first visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Agra Fort, the former seat of the mighty Mughal Empire. After lunch at the ITC Mughal Hotel, the highlight of your journey awaits—the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the modern world and a flawless architectural marvel crafted in white marble. Enjoy some free time for shopping before returning to the train for dinner onboard and departure.
Day 8
WEDNESDAY: AGRA TO NEW DELHI RETURN
The train returns to Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station by 05:30 hrs. After an early breakfast, check-out is scheduled by 07:15 hrs.
