Day 2

Jodhpur

After breakfast, we will visit the Mehrangarh Fort. Founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in Jodhpur. It is the most glorious fort in Jodhpur as well as in Rajasthan. Located on a 150 m high hill, the fort is a major attraction among the tourist in India. It is 5 kms below through a circular road from the city.

Further, we will visit The Jaswant Thada.

Jaswant Thada is an elegant marble monument of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Built by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh in the memory of his father, the monument is also known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar. The main center of the memorial has been built like a temple with intricately carved marble stone.

Later, we will visit Umaid Bhawan Palace.

Built by Maharaja Umaid Singh (1929 - 1942), Umaid Bhawan Palace was named after him. This wonderful Palace is also named as Chittar Palace due to the local chittar sandstone used in its building. It is one of the great examples of Indo-colonial and art deco architecture of the 30s. The exclusive feature of this palace is that the manually chiselled sandstone blocks have been put together in a special system of interlocking. A part of this ancient palace has been now converted into a hotel. The other remains on the hotel is converted into an excellent museum that houses model weapons, aeroplanes, antique clocks, priceless crockery, bob watches and hunting trophies. Both sections of the palace together retain the ambience of royal splendour.

Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
